Main station (CTA)

Main is a station on the Chicago Transit Authority's 'L' system, on the Purple Line at 836 Chicago Avenue in Evanston, Illinois (directional coordinates 900 north, 732 west). It is near the Main Street stop of Metra's Union Pacific/North Line.

The current station has been in place since 1908, with only little renovation to the station since then, most notably a 90 foot extension of the platform in 1997 so that a motorman in the front car could see all doors stopped at the station (the platform had curved at one end previously). Main is one of the stations on the CTA's 2004-2008 Capital Improvement Plan.

360 Main (Winnipeg)

360 Main is a 32-storey office tower located near Portage and Main in downtown Winnipeg, Manitoba.

The tower was originally known as the Commodity Exchange tower. Although the naming rights expired in 1990, it was not officially renamed to 360 Main until 2010. Throughout this time it has been unofficially known as the Trizec building.

Constructed in 1979, it is connected to the Winnipeg Square underground shopping mall. 360 Main Street contains 599,420 square feet (55,688 m²) of leasable area. 56,976 square feet (5,293.2 m²) of which contains retail space in Winnipeg Square. The building was certified as BOMA Best Level 3 in 2011.

The tower was purchased from Oxford Properties Group and GE Capital Canada Inc in September 2007 by Crown Realty Partners, a Toronto based company. The purchase included the Winnipeg Square shopping mall and totalled approximately $102.5 million. 360 Main is currently owned by Artis REIT, a Real Estate Investment Trust from Winnipeg.

Class (education)

A class in education has a variety of related meanings.

It can be the group of students which attends a specific course or lesson at a university, school, or other educational institution, see Form (education).

It can refer to a course itself, e.g., a class in Shakespearean drama.

It can be the group of students at the same level in an institution: the freshman class; or the group of students which graduates from the institution at the same time: the Class of 2005 (cf. alumnus/a). The term can be used in a slightly more general context, such as "the graduating class."

It can also refer to the classroom, in the building or venue where such a lesson is conducted.

In some countries' educational systems (such as Taiwan's), it can refer to a subdivision of the students in an academic department, consisting of a cohort of students of the same academic level. For example, a department's sophomores may be divided into three classes.

In countries such as the Republic of Ireland, India, Germany, and in the past Sweden, the word can mean a grade: 1st class is ages 4–5, 2nd class is ages 6–7, 3rd class is ages 8–9, 4th class is ages 9–10, 5th class is ages 10–11, 6th class is ages 11–12, and 9th class is ages 14–15.

Social class

Social class (or simply "class"), as in a class society, is a set of concepts in the social sciences and political theory centered on models of social stratification in which people are grouped into a set of hierarchical social categories, the most common being the upper, middle, and lower classes.

Class is an essential object of analysis for sociologists, political scientists, anthropologists, and social historians. However, there is not a consensus on the best definition of the "class," and the term has different contextual meanings. In common parlance, the term "social class" is usually synonymous with "socio-economic class," defined as "people having the same social, economic, or educational status," e.g., "the working class"; "an emerging professional class." However, academics distinguish social class and socioeconomic status, with the former referring to one’s relatively stable sociocultural background and the latter referring to one’s current social and economic situation and, consequently, being more changeable over time.

Π01 class

In computability theory, a Π⁰₁ class is a subset of 2^ω of a certain form. These classes are of interest as a technical tool within recursion theory and effective descriptive set theory. They are also used in the application of recursion theory to other branches of mathematics (Cenzer 1999, p. 39).

Definition

The set 2^{< ω} consists of all finite sequences of 0s and 1s, while the set 2^ω consists of all infinite sequences of 0s and 1s (that is, functions from ω = {0, 1, 2, ...} to the set {0,1}).

A tree on 2^{< ω} is a subset of 2^<ω that is closed under taking initial segments. An element f of 2^ω is a path through a tree T on 2^{< ω} if every finite initial segment of f is in T.

A (lightface) Π⁰₁ class is a subset C of 2^ω for which there is a computable tree T such that C consists of exactly the paths through T. A boldface Π⁰₁ class is a subset D of 2^ω for which there is an oracle f in 2^ω and a subtree tree T of 2^{< ω} from computable from f such that D is the set of paths through T.
